Survival Knifes

The origin of humanity`s use of sharp instruments as tools is lost in history, but it is fair to surmise this could be one of the first actual tools used by people. There is no question rough knifes were fashioned from rock material during the Stone Age, and continued to be used even through the Bronze Age. The frozen corpse of a man found in the Alps in 1991, preserved for over 5,000 years, had a kit containing a flint knife. Even though bronze was available as a material for making knifes, this individual preferred the flint blade, a simply designed tool that probably dates back tens of thousands of years.

Far back in the days of mastodons and other prehistoric creatures, knifes were an everyday use item. The knife is one of the few tools we use every day just like our ancestors thousands of years ago. It is no surprise that this simple tool has an intrinsic attraction for collectors. An appreciation of function exists within almost every collector of knifes, formed long before internal combustion, even before civilization as we characterize it. Knifes were most probably in use long before humanity harnessed fire as a tool, predating most known tools and almost every known weapon.
